Adani Airport Holdings Raises ₹9,825 Crore From Global Investors
Adani Airport Holdings Ltd. (AAHL), the airport business of Adani Enterprises, has secured around ₹9,825 crore ($1 billion) in fresh equity from a consortium of major domestic and international investors. The investment values the airport operator at approximately $18 billion before the new capital.
The investor group includes Temasek, BlackRock-managed funds, Alpha Wave Global and Premji Invest. Once all three investment tranches are completed, the consortium is expected to collectively hold about 5.54% of AAHL. The final tranche is expected to be completed by July 2027, subject to applicable approvals.
The fundraising represents one of the largest primary equity investments by financial institutions in India’s airport infrastructure sector. It also provides an important external valuation benchmark for AAHL as the company prepares for its next phase of expansion.
AAHL plans to use the new capital to modernise and expand its airport infrastructure, increase passenger-handling capacity and strengthen its technology and operational capabilities. The company aims to eventually handle around 200 million passengers annually across its airport network.
A significant portion of the expansion strategy involves developing airport-linked commercial ecosystems. The company plans around 22 million square feet of mixed-use development in the first phase of its Adani Airport City projects, creating additional sources of revenue beyond aviation operations.
The company also intends to expand its non-aeronautical businesses, including ground handling and passenger-focused services. These businesses are increasingly important for airport operators seeking to generate revenue from retail, food and beverage, commercial property and other services.
AAHL currently operates eight airports, including Mumbai International Airport, and accounts for roughly a quarter of India’s passenger traffic and about one-third of the country’s air cargo volumes, according to Reuters.
The investment comes as India’s aviation sector continues to expand, supported by rising passenger demand and major investments in airport infrastructure. Global institutional participation in AAHL reflects growing investor interest in India’s long-term aviation and infrastructure growth story.
For Adani Enterprises, the transaction also strengthens access to long-term institutional capital. The company completed a ₹15,000-crore qualified institutional placement in July 2026, adding another significant source of funding for its broader portfolio.
The latest investment therefore marks a major financial milestone for Adani Airports, giving the company additional capital to expand its airport network, develop airport-city projects and build a larger ecosystem around India’s rapidly growing air-travel market.
