New OTT Releases This September 2026: 10 Movies and Shows to Watch on Netflix, Prime Video, JioHotstar and More
September 2026 is shaping up to be a particularly busy month for streaming audiences in India. Netflix, Prime Video, JioHotstar, SonyLIV and ZEE5 are bringing a mix of crime thrillers, action dramas, comedies, period stories, romances and coming-of-age films, with several theatrical titles also making their digital debuts.
Here are 10 releases generating the most attention.
1. Gandhari — Netflix | September 3
Taapsee Pannu leads Gandhari, an action thriller centred on a mother caught in a desperate fight to find her missing daughter. Ishwak Singh, Chhaya Kadam, Swastika Mukherjee, Mita Vashisht and Jatin Sarna also feature. The film is set in the fictional town of Joypurra and is expected to be one of Netflix India’s major Hindi releases of the month.
2. The Gentlemen Season 2 — Netflix | September 3
Guy Ritchie’s crime-comedy universe returns with a second season. The story again follows aristocrat Eddie and the increasingly complicated criminal operation surrounding his family’s estate. The series combines British aristocracy, organised crime, dark humour and escalating power struggles.
3. Dhamaal 4 — Netflix | September 4
Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh and Jaaved Jaaferi return for another chaotic treasure-hunt comedy. The ensemble also includes Ravi Kishan, Sanjay Mishra, Upendra Limaye, Esha Gupta and others. After its theatrical run, the fourth instalment is headed to Netflix, giving the long-running comedy franchise another chance to reach a much larger home audience.
4. Unmadham — SonyLIV | September 4
Malayalam cinema gets a prominent OTT release with Unmadham, starring Kunchacko Boban and Lijomol Jose. The story follows Shelly, a frustrated police officer who dreams of becoming a screenwriter. While searching for material for his script, he decides to reopen an old case involving the mysterious death of a young woman.
5. Korean Kanakaraju — Netflix | September 4
Varun Tej, Ritika Nayak and Satya headline this horror-comedy directed by Merlapaka Gandhi. The film is reportedly heading to Netflix after its theatrical release. However, the streaming date has not received the same level of official confirmation as some other September titles, so viewers should treat the September 4 date as provisional.
6. The Revolutionaries — Prime Video | September 11
Bhuvan Bam, Rohit Saraf, Gurfateh Pirzada and Pratibha Ranta star in Nikkhil Advani’s period action series. Set during British rule in India, it follows young revolutionaries who decide to embrace armed resistance in their struggle for independence. The combination of historical politics and action makes it one of Prime Video India’s more ambitious Indian releases this month.
7. Prince of Mollywood — JioHotstar | September 11
JioHotstar’s September schedule includes Prince of Mollywood, a Malayalam-language series. Current streaming guides list September 11 as its expected release date, with additional audio-language availability anticipated.
8. Ghamasaan — ZEE5 | September 11
Directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, Ghamasaan brings together Arshad Warsi, Pratik Gandhi and Ishita Dutta in a gritty crime drama. The story revolves around power, politics and survival, with personal ambitions colliding against a larger political struggle.
9. The Scandal — Netflix | September 18
Netflix is also going international with The Scandal, a period romance set in Korea’s Joseon era. The series draws inspiration from Pierre Choderlos de Laclos’ Les Liaisons dangereuses, promising a story built around attraction, manipulation, secrets and dangerous relationships.
10. Unabomber — Netflix | September 25
One of the month’s darker releases is Unabomber, a thriller inspired by the real-life case of Theodore John Kaczynski. Russell Crowe and Shailene Woodley lead the cast. The series revisits the investigation surrounding Kaczynski, whose years-long bombing campaign became one of the most notorious domestic-terrorism cases in modern American history.
September’s OTT calendar extends beyond these 10 titles. Netflix’s broader schedule also includes Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story, Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 Season 2, Heartland Season 19 and several international productions. The platform is simultaneously adding a substantial collection of older films, including Jaws, Scarface and 17 Again.
Prime Video is likewise expanding its September offering. Among the other notable titles are The Runner, starring Gal Gadot, Neagley, a new series connected to the Reacher universe, and The Love Hypothesis, the romantic comedy adaptation of Ali Hazelwood’s bestselling novel.
For Indian viewers, the biggest attraction may ultimately be the sheer variety. Netflix has the strongest concentration of high-profile releases, Prime Video is leaning into action, romance and franchise extensions, while JioHotstar, SonyLIV and ZEE5 continue to expand their regional and Indian-original offerings.
With Gandhari, The Gentlemen Season 2, Dhamaal 4, The Revolutionaries, Ghamasaan and Unabomber arriving across the month, September 2026 is likely to be one of the more crowded OTT calendars of the year.
