Bengaluru Daycare Horror: Five Caregivers Booked After Alleged Abuse of Toddlers at Capgemini Campus Creche
Disturbing videos trigger police investigation, corporate response, and renewed scrutiny of workplace childcare safety
A shocking child abuse case has emerged from Bengaluru after police registered an FIR against five caregivers employed at a daycare centre operating inside Capgemini’s Brookfield campus. The case surfaced after disturbing videos allegedly showed toddlers being subjected to physical abuse and intimidation inside the creche, sparking widespread public outrage and an official investigation.
According to the police complaint, the accused caregivers allegedly mistreated children as young as two years old whenever they cried or became restless. The alleged acts include placing toddlers inside the drum of a front-loading washing machine, locking them inside bathrooms, spraying water into their mouths using a toilet jet spray, and forcing some children into narrow water-filled spaces to frighten them. Authorities are currently verifying the authenticity of the videos as part of the investigation.
The complaint was filed after the District Child Protection Unit received video evidence purportedly documenting the abuse. Following the complaint, Bengaluru’s HAL Police registered an FIR against five women caregivers under relevant provisions of child protection laws. Investigators are now recording statements from parents, daycare staff, and other witnesses while examining digital evidence collected during the probe.
Officials from the District Child Protection Unit believe the alleged abuse may have continued for an extended period. A probation officer associated with the inquiry stated that the daycare had around 50 to 60 enrolled children, with approximately 15 to 20 attending daily. The officer further alleged that an earlier whistleblower had previously reported concerns to supervisors, but no effective action was taken and the individual was allegedly dismissed. These allegations are also being examined as part of the ongoing inquiry.
The Karnataka child rights authorities have also stepped in. The alleged videos have reportedly been forwarded to the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, which is expected to conduct its own examination alongside the police investigation. The commission’s involvement is likely to focus on child safety compliance and possible institutional lapses at the daycare facility.
Capgemini has responded by temporarily shutting its Bengaluru on-campus daycare as a precautionary measure. In an official statement, the company said the health, safety, and well-being of employees and their families remain its foremost priority. It added that it is fully cooperating with law enforcement agencies and assisting authorities in establishing the facts surrounding the allegations.
While investigators have not yet determined the full extent of the alleged abuse, the case has intensified concerns over monitoring standards at employer-supported childcare facilities. Many large technology companies offer on-campus daycare centres as part of employee welfare programmes, and the incident is expected to prompt renewed discussions on stricter oversight, surveillance, vendor accountability, and child protection mechanisms across corporate campuses.
Police have not announced any arrests at the time of reporting. Officials say further legal action will depend on forensic examination of the videos, witness testimonies, and additional evidence gathered during the investigation. The allegations remain under investigation, and the accused caregivers are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
